Best of 2016 Editorials

Part of the beauty and excitement of a fashion editorial is seeing how a brand's collection is creatively interpreted by stylists – how it fits into the trend zeitgeist of each season. What makes denim such an enduring staple is its innate ability to act as a blank canvas for a specific look, a mood or even a feeling.

As an archetypal wardrobe staple, denim is a lesson in practicality and can be worn year-round. You know that you won't feel overdressed in a pair of jeans. And with every new collection, denim can be refined and subtly reinvented.

With this transformative spirit in mind, we shine a spotlight on some of our favourite fashion editorials of 2016.

British Vogue

For the British Vogue Centenary issue, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, wore the 7 For All Mankind St Tropez belted denim palazzo jeans. The editorial was shot by photographer Josh Olins in the British countryside, and is the first magazine shoot that the Duchess has ever consented to.

LOVE Magazine

Dutch model Lara Stone encapsulates vintage red, white and blue Americana for LOVE magazine.  This little red denim jacket  is a visual echo of this look that can be worn in any season.

Vogue Italia

The denim skirt doesn't get enough credit. It's a workhorse that's quietly understated and is eternally associated with hazy, summer days.  We love how Vogue Italia have paired it with ornately feminine pieces and white pointed toe pumps. Try pairing this pencil skirt with a ruffled organza blouse.

The Rake

On first glance, this shot seems effortless- just hanging out on a tree branch, wearing rolled-up jeans.  And yet, this careful pose is a study in perfection – the washed out scenery of nature that perfectly offsets the vibrancy of the varying shades of blue.

Grazia Germany

We love the long, elegant silhouette that a pair of perfectly fitting flared jeans creates. This editorial in Grazia Germany balances the fluid cut perfectly with a boxy jacket.

Grazia Germany also created a western-inspired head-to-toe denim look with a 7 For All Mankind shirt. This simple style is the perfect complement to a full denim outfit.

Marie Claire Italia

We've always had a thing for oversized jumpers.  There's something about the enveloping embrace of a cosy jumper that has an ephemeral comfort about it – it's super chic but also an easy solution to simply being cold in winter. We love the contrast of an ivory chunky knit jumper with deep indigo flares.

Seventh Man

The best thing about wearing jeans? It's easy to jump for joy. See how practical they are? A furry gilet and red brogues might not be something to reach for on a Monday morning but nothing could be more suited to leaping in front of pink buildings.

Burda Style Germany

Burda Style’s effortless off-duty look is proof that a bright red jacket is the perfect pairing to classic blue jeans. We love the striped tee for a subtle touch of nautical, too.

ELLE Germany

ELLE Germany took a tip from Parisian cool girls when putting together their latest editorial. We love how the 7 For All mankind flared jeans have been styled with an elegant silk blouse and relaxed, tousled hair. Très chic!
