Driving down The Pacific Coast Highway in California is probably at the top of anyone's bucket list and so it should be! The winding highway stretches over 1,000km taking in rugged cliffs, postcard-perfect ocean views, towering pines and ancient redwoods and staggering rock formations in Yosemite Park. It's got to be one of the most Instagram-worthy experiences in the world!

We've picked all the best spots for you along the iconic highway, so why not grab a partner, pack a suitcase full of all American denim and hit the road.

Follow Zach Both's lead and be your own boss by renting a camper van! Dress down in a pair of jeans and drive straight onto 17 Mile Drive, a scenic road through Pebble Beach and Pacific Grove to see the 5,300-acre Del Monte Forest Cypress trees.

Next up, Carmel-by-the-Sea, established in 1905 as an art colony. Still a famous heaven for artists, writers and poets, Carmel is one of the first stops you will make on your way down from San Francisco. Model Teun Koemans, recently made the trip and took the opportunity to do some climbing en route, keeping it simple in shorts paired with a t-shirt and sneakers.

Hop out of the car at Brixby Bridge to take a quick snap at one of the world's most photographed bridges, like model Veronica Zoppol in a blouse with a midi-denim skirt before spending the night at Treebones Resort.

 Do like blogger K. Antoinette and spend the night under the stars at the Treebones Resort in a yurt, tent or their famous “human nests.” It can get chilly at night so make sure to bring a good sweater.

After a good night's rest, keep your sweater on, grab a pair of denim shorts and head into Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park to stand amongst the breath-taking Redwood trees.

Trade your camper van for a motorcycle for the last leg of your trip and head East towards Yosemite. This vast national park is an American icon, filled with towering granite cliffs, waterfalls and even glaciers.
