A holiday can take you across the world, but the book you read can take you even further. So while you're folding your favourite 7FAM summer staples into your suitcase, don't forget to pack a good book for the beach too. Here are three of our favourite holiday reads to hunker down with until the tide comes in.

Delicious! By Ruth Reichl

Warning: perhaps not one for the beach body conscious, this book is likely to work up an appetite, as acclaimed food critic Ruth Reichl spins a tale about a young girl called Billie, who takes up a post at fictional magazine, Delicious! Billie stumbles across a series of old fan letters to the magazine dating back to WWII, sending her on a captivating adventure of self-discovery.

Go Set a Watchman by Harper Lee

It's been over fifty years since Harper Lee was spotted in such abundance on the seaside shores, but her sequel to To Kill a Mockingbird has put the celebrated 89-year old author back on the top seller list. Go Set a Watchman reunites old readers with Scout and the Gang, or if you have yet to read Lee's first novel, this is a perfect opportunity to become acquainted with both.

My Paris Dream by Kate Betts

Paris, fashion, glamour the 1980s — this book encompasses all the ingredients of a great story, written with the warm humour and sharp wit of celebrated journalist Kate Betts. The Vogue and Harper's Bazaar editor pens a charming memoir about coming-of-age as an aspiring fashion journalist in 1980s Paris, reigniting the glamour, style and romance of the city during one of its most flamboyant decades.
